ˇ@ Established in 2000, the department focuses on nurturing excellent technicians of information engineering who attach equal importance to theory and practice in order to meet the needs of the industries concerned.  Courses include information soft/hardware technology and especially focus on networking, multimedia, embedded system, and mobile applications.  In 2002, the department initiated a Masters Degree program for the study of advanced information technology.

Characteristics

  • Parallel emphasis on humanity and technology
    Humane and artistic qualities and basic specialized knowledge are cultivated through compulsory courses required by the college in order to raise studentsˇ¦ linguistic abilities to absorb and express new scientific and technological knowledge that is generated globally. Through the technical and non-technical required courses, students learn civilizations, cultures, and the course on science and technology, help students to develop their communication skills.
  • Theory and Application Equally-emphasized
    To help students keep abreast with the development of science and technology, the department arranges special topic projects that also can train cooperation with their classmates and ability of problem solving. Practical experiences of students should be reinforced and enlightened cooperation encouraged.
  • Learning assistance
    The department continues a program for learning assistance. The program includes disability support, license exam assistance, and workshops on special interesting groups.

The department stress on information application technology, including:

l          Information Appliance: such as Embedded System, End-use Application Products, Mobile
System, Driver development, Microprocessor System.

Multimedia & Network Appliance: such as Multimedia Processing, Speech Compression, Multimedia Database, Internet Technology, Digital Communication, Network Security, Wireless Network.
